To Our Valued Subscribers:
We understand and apologize for the frustrations you have recently experienced due to the instability of some of the channels you have enjoyed on Co-op Cable. The disruptions originate with issues related to the signals we receive from satellites for distribution to our subscribers. Our technicians are working to find a solution to these disruptions at this time.
Changes in the technology on how these signals are received and processed for distribution are also coming, as well, we were notified by a third-party vendor that a critical system utilized by Co-op Cable to provide digital cable services has reached end of life and is being shut down as of June 30, 2023. This requires us to make significant investment to replace the equipment used to receive and distribute channels and to replace the set top boxes you use in your home. Over the next few weeks, we will be working on this transition. As we are unable to operate both the current system and the new system in our network at the same time, you will experience a temporary reduction in the number of channels available to you as we fine tune the new system. The Channels available during this time will be communicated as soon as we have confirmation.
It is anticipated that as of the week of June 26, 2023, the new equipment will be turned on and until June 30, 2023, you will be able to receive this reduced channel selection on either your existing or your new set top box. After this date, your old set top box will no longer function on the system. Please visit your local Co-op Office before that date to pick up your new set top box.
Each household has been assigned one new box with your channel packages. Starting the middle of July, you will be able to visit your local Co-op to add more boxes, but we do ask for your patience during this transition period for the co-op to address extra boxes.
It may take up to two weeks for all channels to be tuned into the equipment. During this time, you may see additional channels become available as equipment is tuned. We recognize this will be an inconvenience and as such, we will offer all channels except for Pick and Pay channels to all subscribers until July 31 at no additional charge to you. After July 31 you will return to the channel packages you had prior to June 30. During this period, billing will continue to be billed as it normally would with no additional charge for the period when all channels are available to you.
Projects like this are complex, challenging and don’t always go smoothly. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work to update our equipment to better serve you and your subscribers in the future.
