TAQQUT CO-OP
Arctic Bay, NU
A quiet High Arctic community on Baffin Island, Arctic Bay is framed by steep hills and a deep connection to the land and sea.
About the Community
Arctic Bay, called Ikpiarjuk in Inuktitut, meaning “the pocket”, is a small Inuit hamlet on the Borden Peninsula of northern Baffin Island in Nunavut’s Qikiqtaaluk Region. It sits on a south-facing gravel beach along Adams Sound near Admiralty Inlet, surrounded on three sides by steep hills that create its “pocket” shape and sheltered setting.
